We are particularly interested in elucidating specialized versus general principles of neural design for these functions. One of our long-term goals is to uncover the neural circuit mechanisms driving their altered operation in neuro-atypical states such as ADHD, schizophrenia, autism, and addiction. Another is to develop neurally inspired algorithms and architectures for AI applications.
